My past was filled with misery and struggles. During my childhood, I never really had a stable life. My parents were constantly arguing, and eventually, they divorced when I was just a adolescent. I was forced to bounce around between different kinfolk’s houses, never really feeling like I belonged.

But the challenges I faced, I always found relief in video games. They provided me with an escape route from the chaos of my real life and allowed me to become immersed in make-believe worlds. I spent countless hours playing games, becoming more and more skilled as time went on.

Then, one particular day, something occurred altered my life for good. I was playing a game online with a handful of friends when I was suddenly cut off from the server. At first, I believed it was just a glitch, but as it turned out, my internet service had been cut off due to an outstanding bill that my mom and dad had neglected to pay.

I was heartbroken. How to be able to play my favorite games without internet? Still, rather than wallow in in self-pity, I determined to take matters into my own hands. I began saving up my allowance and doing side hustles for neighbors in order to pay for my own internet service. It was not an easy, but eventually, I was able to get back online and resume playing the games that I loved.
